Summit Highlights
The Leaders Summit will equip participants with the strategic intelligence, resources and tools they need to create value in the broadest sense. Among the many significant presented at the Summit include are:
- Groundbreaking new studies by McKinsey & Co. and Goldman Sachs will identify current megatrends in corporate responsibility and cast new light on the meaning of competitiveness.
- The Global Compact will release its first Annual Review, which will provide a comprehensive picture of the initiative in 2006 and highlight key efforts made by all stakeholders to advance the Global Compact's mission and principles.
- Business leaders from around the world will address public policy challenges and call on governments to create comprehensive solutions to effectively address climate change and other issues that affect the global and local business environment.
- Academic participants of the Global Compact will launch the Principles for Responsible Business Education, which will incorporate universal values into the training of future business leaders.
- Leaders from the financial markets will demonstrate how environmental, social and governance issues have become material to business performance and competitiveness.
- Global Compact participants will adopt a declaration establishing a roadmap for the future of the initiative and deepening their commitment.
Leaders Summit Format
The design and format of the Leaders Summit seek to maximize interaction between participants. For most of the meeting's duration, participants will be seated at tables of 8-10 people with leaders of commensurate level. Each table will be multi-stakeholder in nature, with business, labour, civil society and government leadership represented.
Opening and closing events, as well as the key speeches, will be open to the media. Roundtable discussions are restricted to Leaders Summit participants to encourage open debate on the issues presented.
